MAKING FILMS with docathon

Creative Pathways > Films & Documentaries >

Time Allowance:

10 MINUTE READING

Learn how to come up with ideas, a bit about the important skill of storytelling and make short films and documentaries that matter to you. You don’t need special equipment or any knowledge before you start – Just access to a simple Smart Phone will do. Although if you have some knowledge, experience and equipment of course that will be very useful. You and your class will get an opportunity to submit ideas and perhaps get one of them chosen. You and your class could be one of the 10 teams who get to do a special film-making course with mentoring by the international Docathon team.

STORIES THAT MATTER COURSE HERE

Why YOU should join Docathon and make a short documentary?

Storytelling is one of the most powerful skills we can develop to build a kinder, fairer, and more sustainable world. You might already love creating content— and now Docathon can channel that passion in a way that guides you in making an engaging and meaningful short film that really makes a difference. How? You will have access to an online course, that only takes about an hour to complete – then add in the time it’ll take you to do the interviews, filming and editing – it can be as little or as much as you want to pour into it. Then in late June, your film might be selected as a winner and shown in a real theater to a super keen audience. You’ll even get mentorship from a real professional storyteller along the way, feedback from international judges and a prize if your film is a winner!

Through this process, you’ll not just make a movie: you might build confidence, communication skills, and critical thinking—while gaining a platform to imagine and share a fairer, greener, wiser future!
