Your students will discover how to come up with ideas about things that matter to them. They will learn a bit about the craft of storytelling through this customised course for the primary school community in Staffordshire.
Your class will also get an opportunity to submit an idea and get chosen to be one of the 10 teams who get to do a special film-making course with mentoring by the International Docathon team.
Do you have CREATIVE teamS IN YOUR CLASS (or several!)
Who are interested in making a short documentary film for the TGI Docathon!!? Use this form – one for each team – no limit to the ideas submissions – the more the merrier. We will see what we can do to offer a consolation prize to the teams that don’t get awarded the scholarship.
Benefit of Value of Storytelling AND How it might help you in the Docathon Journey
Storytelling is one of the most powerful skills we can develop to build a kinder, fairer, and more sustainable world. Young people already love creating content—Docathon channels that passion in a purposeful direction. It empowers students to find their voice, explore real-world issues, and connect with their communities through creative and meaningful storytelling.
Through this process, they build confidence, communication skills, and critical thinking—while gaining a platform to imagine and share a greener, wiser future. Paired with MAD Courses’ online program for creating and sharing short documentary films, Docathon turns storytelling into a powerful force for learning and making a difference.

STORIES THAT MATTER
Introduction of MAD Courses
MAD Courses (Make A Difference Courses) offers interactive, story-driven learning experiences that help young people explore global citizenship, sustainability, and social impact. Through Docathon, students build empathy, critical thinking, and leadership skills and become inspired to take action and tell stories that matter.
EXPLANATION OF DOCATHON
The Great Imagining and MAD Courses are joining forces to offer up to 10 teams (of up to 5 students on each team) the opportunity to join a Docathon experience! The selected teams will have access to the online course, mentoring sessions with professional storytellers, and will join the Docathon Awards ceremony on June 25th in Staffordshire (SEE SHARING EVENTS FOR MORE DETAILS). To interest your students in making a film for the TGI Docathon, you can give them access to this course, Stories That Matter, free of charge. The modules will cover WHY one might want to tell a meaningful story, and tips for how to create a storyline that is compelling, intriguing and engaging.
